The crowd flowed through Burning Man-like, installation art pieces like a metal, spider-looking sculpture with bongos, bugles and barrel drums where jam-banding with strangers was encouraged. A waterworks station misted hot passerbys on their way across the festivals grass and turf to tents flowing with beer, falafel, pizza, funnel cake, burgers, replica watch gift bratwurst and and french fries. Clouds rolled in around 5pm, cooling things off and rejuvenating the crowd for Micheal Franti Spearhead. Franti, who often sings about society and peace, shared that his 21-year-old son (Franti was a young dad), just set off on a trip to New York City to explore his passion: graffiti-writing. Franti played a song he wrote for his sons journey with lyrics like, In the back of a Greyhound bus, you can be who you are.
Tom Petty brought the crowd, though. Die-hard fans lined up at the main stage four hours before his 9pm start. Petty, donning a black jacket with rhinestones, roses, and skulls, launched into I Wont Back Down, Free Falling, Running Down a Dream, and An American Girl among his other greatest hits. His good friend, Steve Winwood, who Ulysse Nardin replica watches played solo earlier in the day, came out to accompany Petty in Winwoods hit song Cant Find My Way Home and Gimme Some Lovin. The Tours still on, and theres a guy who is turning in a stunning performance, and wed be remiss to let it slide unheralded.
